Dedicated to serving North Carolinians

Helping the people of North Carolina who rely on Medicaid live healthier lives

Community & State is the business segment of UnitedHealthcare that provides health care coverage for beneficiaries of Medicaid and other government health care programs. These health plans operate locally as UnitedHealthcare Community Plan.

It’s our privilege to work within the North Carolina healthcare system and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to help people live healthier lives.

To continue to drive North Carolina Medicaid towards a best-in-class model we are:

  • Providing timely, integrated, whole person care delivery that drives quality population health outcomes
  • Developing innovative partnerships with stakeholders that transform care, with an emphasis on social determinants of health and behavioral health integration
  • Utilizing a data driven, localized, coordinated approach that impacts health equity through a social justice lens
  • Creating a culture of quality that lowers cost, increases member and provider satisfaction, improves outcomes, and impacts health equity

UnitedHealthcare Community & State has in-depth experience and knowledge of the Tar Heel State. We live here. We work here. Our strong local presence enables us to see the opportunities as well as the issues, so we can deliver effective solutions to address the specific needs of North Carolina.

We have the privilege of serving approximately 500,000 individuals eligible for Medicaid, Dual Special Needs Plans, and Individual Family Plans through UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of North Carolina.
