Doulas are trained professionals who provide nonclinical support during pregnancy and birth, acting as advocates and supportive resources. Research has found that doula care can improve maternal and infant health outcomes.1
Providence Swedish, the largest nonprofit health care provider in the greater Seattle area, built a doula network to improve access to doula care services. UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Washington is proud to support this work through a $100,000 grant.
