Jennifer Kucera is a UnitedHealthcare National Advisory Board Member who was born with spinal muscular atrophy and is an advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She believes that the most important thing to remember about independent living is that it means different things to different people. For her, it means living alone in her own apartment and receiving care from caregivers through long-term services and supports (LTSS).
Jennifer discusses her journey to independent living with Michelle Martin, Senior Policy Director, Long-Term Services and Supports. They also talk about how individuals with disabilities can use self-direction to choose and manage their own caregivers.
