Bror Hultgren serves as chief executive officer, west region for UnitedHealthcare Community & State. In this role, he is accountable for the operations of the region’s markets including Medicaid, Long Term Care, and Dual Special Needs Plan products.
Prior to assuming this role, Bror was senior vice president, charged with leading national bid efforts as well as driving enterprise focus on the integration of physical and behavioral health for Community & State.
Previously, Bror served as central region CEO, where he provided leadership, guidance, and support for 13 markets serving over 3 million members in Medicaid, Medicaid Long Term Care, and Medicare Dual Special Needs Plan products.
Bror joined UnitedHealthcare in 2000 and has held many leadership roles including executive director of Evercare of Colorado and west region vice president for Evercare, leader of the complex care product team, and central region CEO. Bror joined UHG Ventures in 2015 to serve as chief executive officer of TeamMD, a physician practice that incorporated community-based care management and intensive primary care services in one integrated, physician-led team focused on serving older adults and individuals with complex health needs. After returning to Community & State in 2017, Bror served as interim CEO of the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Iowa and senior vice president of product as well as leading clinical operations for complex care products.
Bror’s career is built on a foundation of more than a decade of non-profit and governmental human services work including child protective services casework, community case management and residential care for those with serious mental illness, as well as regulatory management of Medicaid health plans.
Bror earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Hobart College and a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in health administration from the University of Colorado at Denver.
