While they are sometimes confused with each other, Medicare and Medicaid differ in several significant ways — including how the programs are funded and who is eligible. When someone is eligible for both programs, they are often referred to as dually eligible.
Dually eligible individuals qualify for both programs due to their age and/or their disability status and income.
